A re-decorate the world of RPG gaming, this is a new IP titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Is this a new game can compete with the other RPGs that have been proven in the market?

From the visual aspect, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is quite good graphics displays. Environment was quite beautiful, and filled with luminescent a twinkling, making this place full of mystical aura. We will explore the various places which is quite varied, ranging from a forest full of spider webs, to the desert.

Unfortunately, the character models are not too good, even some look very bad. But for the character animation is quite fantastic, making the battles look really like a game hack-and-slash smooth. Only occasionally we’ll find a little glitch in the animation, especially animation stealth kill.

Amalur successfully provided voice acting is far more convincing than the RPG -world open another. Unfortunately we may not be too keen to listen to conversations because reading subtitles much faster than waiting for them to finish talking and straight through to the next sentence. Our character is a mute person. Not a word spoken by him, and we must “assume” that we are talking to the NPC by selecting dialog.

Character Creation

Not a Western RPG name if there is no character creation. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning also has a character creation system is quite functional, but not too detailed.

To create our unique hero, we can change the look of the face with a variety of features such as selection of hair and facial features. If later we are not satisfied with our appearance at the beginning of the game, we can beautify themselves by using a mirror that is in our private home. But remember, we simply can not change the face (no plastic surgery in Amalur), can only change the makeup and hair style only.

Unfortunately due to the options provided are not too many, and there are options to create a character we tend to look old. Imagine there are elves who have stubble (or even jenggotan all). Not to mention the absence of selection of body size, because once again, the elves in this game looks well built. It’s weird and funny, is not it?

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning gives us the choice of destiny. We did not have to follow the job class of the classic warrior, rogue and mage (called Might, Finesse and Sorcery in this game). How to choose a skill tree freely is more flexible than other RPG games that tend to lock us in a class.

Want to be a warrior / mage ? Not a problem. Or want to combine the warrior and rogue ? It could also be. As with any style of play that we want, Reckoning provide it in the form of Destiny Card. By choosing Destiny Card “Brawler” for example, we will get a bonus Melee Attack Damage +15% and +20% Block Efficacy.

More crazier, we can change the Destiny at any time, and reset all skill points which we have spent over Fateweaver NPC. So we no longer have to start over if it’s a character build that we make a big mistake.

Combat

Fans of the game action RPG would be happy to see combat in the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. We can perform various combos, jump aside to avoid the attack, resist attack using shields, Parry, and even do the juggling

It all depends on what weapons and skills that we equip. There is a 2 slot weapon ( primary and secondary ) that we can use one after another, and 4 slots skill. For example, we can to juggle enemies using Longsword, then kill them using a dagger.

If you do not want to fight at close range, we can also use a bow to attack remotely, using magic to shoot an enemy and the most interesting thing is, like sneaking assassin and killed from behind using a stealth kill. You can also enter Reckoning Mode if Fate Energy Meter is full, where if we managed to slaughter all the enemies before Fate Meter runs out, and then do a QTE on the enemy, then we will get a bonus of 100% experience.

Even if we are idle, we can turn friendly fire (live push of a button), and screw in the city that are not hostile. A matter of killing a bunch of guards who came to destroy our lives alone.

But keep in mind, Amalur is not a mindless hack-and-slash. We must have a strategy to attack the enemy if you do not want to be surrounded and the butt. Some enemies are very dangerous even to approach, forcing us to think twice to attack without thinking.

If there is difficulty when fighting the camera controls. This is quite annoying when we were attacked numerous enemies, while we are busy right hand push the button to attack enemies, but to rotate or reset the camera should use the analog right.

Our character is a corpse, that’s right, a corpse. We can customize the corpse later turned over to Well of Souls. With the revival of the dead, then there was chaos in fate, which causes us to be free to apply at will.

The Faelands, a place where our adventure is a place that is really wide, but the Kingdoms of Amalur has a wide range of ‘natural barrier’ which prevents us to go to another place, although logically, we should be able to step over objects that are close. Since we can not jump (can only jump from a certain point anyway), then we are required to follow a predetermined direction.

But do not worry, although the maps are not as free RPG game open-world usually, but it was pretty cool to be explored. We were also given the facility Fast Travel, a feature that is quite okay for the game area Amalur. In addition to quest the main, there are a myriad of quests along side a variety of dungeons for us to explore.
